ge spin off lighting business

General Electric announced that it is now considering spinning off its ge consumer and industrial unit to current shareholders.
The move would divest ge of not only its major appliance business, as it announced back on may 16, but also its industrial and lighting products,the last unit containing the product ge was formed to make and market, the light bulb.
Ge chairman and ceo said in a press release, as we explore all options for divesting appliances it became clear that the best way to complete the transformation of our business is to spin off the entire industrial business.
